Camilla Skovgaard’s signature sole is a distinctive silhouette. Remarkably, I haven’t seen it knocked off by a me-too brand. She has produced a wide variety of sandals, and several iterations of the wedge boot, some with opaque and some with translucent sole, and various colours of leather. I liked the ones with the translucent sole – they were just a bit more tricked-out than than the all-black boot.
These boots are surprisingly versatile. Although the heel is high, the boot upper keeps the foot secure and renders them very walkable. At work I can wear them with a skirt and enjoy the way they balance out the line of my leg.

Probably more in keeping with custom, they are a great boot for a casual night out – as long as there is not too much standing required.

My complaint is that while browsing Luisa via Roma, I found the latest new and improved version of this boot available for pre-order at the princely price of US$875. Just look at these babies! I am so upset – how can I live without them! Continuing the jagged sole up the back of the heel produces a highly original and sinister outline. They are the older, meaner sister of my beloved wedges.
There is also an open toe sandal for US$775.
This is intolerable. The frustration is going to be the death of me. I really, really do not want to buy another version of these boots. The ones I own weren’t as much as these, but I still don’t want to take the hefty loss I’ll incur if I sell them. And yet, I really, really want to wear these with a sharp pair of skinny trousers and a hot little jacket. Damnit!

Camilla Skovgaard’s shoes are out of this world! I remember first seeing a pair when I was interning at Marie Claire and being like, “Whoa–now THAT is the jam!”
Although they come with a pretty hefty price, I think that they’d be a worthwhile investment since they have such a signature and inimitable style. Save up and go for it sister!

Yeah, that’s the same internal monologue I’d be having if (a) money was no object and (b) the frugal part of my brain (yes, it does exist) wasn’t saying “Oh really! TWO pairs of massive zig-zag sole boots?” They are just different enough to be tempting but not different enough to really add variety, so that makes them hard to justify. Ugh. Sometimes I hate being logical.
yikes, those are cool!
